Why do I care?

Good morning, Purposeful Hearts! Today we begin a getting-to-know-you series. In the spirit of healthy relational development, you should know me to trust me. You should understand my motivations and values. You’ll need to catch a glimpse of my mission before you’ll share perspectives with me. And, when you’re comfortable, I hope you’ll share your thoughts, reactions, and heart with me as well. (Feel free to comment, follow, subscribe, join . . . all the things!)

I personally care about a purposeful life because it’s how I believe God designed the human experience. I care about making purposeful choices when communicating with others. I care about being purposeful in nurturing my relationships. I care about leading with purpose, meaning I know my unique direction and mission in life AND I know how to lead others according to their strengths. There’s nothing standardized or stereotypical about those who live purposefully because no one else is meant to fill their roles.

Over the next several weeks, you’ll learn more about why I care – about leadership, about education, about ministry, and about effective relationships. At the core of each of these areas is human connection. What a precious gift that should never be taken for granted!

To make today a day of purpose, take a look at the people around you – at work, at school, at home, on your commute. Who might be a new connection? Who might be hoping for a deeper connection with you? Could you take a moment to encourage the stressed-out employee? Could you thank a teacher for his or her dedication? Could you say that nice thing you’ve been locking away?

The take-away-lesson for today is that people can’t connect to what you keep hidden inside. They connect to what you share on the outside. This is what I care about: helping people maximize their communication efforts to develop stronger, more dynamic connections!
